How it works

The cup enforces the rules of the rolling itself: how many dice are used, whether they can be kept between rolls and how many rolls each turn has. Scoring and the rest of the game’s rules are up to you, on paper or in your phone’s notes.

Many dice games are about collecting combinations: you roll five or six dice, keep the ones that fit and reroll the rest, up to three times a turn. Some variants let unused rolls carry over to later turns. In scoring games you instead set aside dice that score and keep rolling the rest until you stop or roll nothing that scores; once every die is set aside, you may roll them all again.

Hidden mode is for bluffing games. In games with two dice you roll, look yourself by holding the button, announce a value that may or may not be true and pass the phone on. In games where everyone has their own hidden dice, each player uses their own phone and removes a die when they lose a bid.

Other games use three dice kept between rolls, or require certain values to be locked in a set order before the rest counts. A free roll with no limit suits roll-and-move games. Your settings are saved in the browser, so the cup is as you left it next time, and every die is rolled with the browser’s cryptographic randomness.
